I’m Carlie. I am an experience design leader in civic technology and complex service delivery.

My design approach is informed by my early career in strategic communications and community organizing. I create impact by falling in love with the problem, consistently engaging others in my process, and using design to build a shared vision.

I shine in the “messy middle” of problem spaces when I guide teams through moments of exploration, iteration, and convergence.

I am a Staff User Experience Designer at Code for America, where I design accessible benefit applications and resilient systems for states across the U.S. Previously, I worked at General Motors where I supported the design and pilot launch of a new mobility service, Maven.

I received a Masters in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was named Class Speaker and Chair of Graduate Student Assembly. Prior, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Urban Planning at Virginia Tech University.
