I’m Carlie — an experience design leader in civic technology and complex service delivery.
I am a Staff Service Designer at Code for America, where I design accessible benefit applications and resilient systems for states across the U.S.
I am a proud design generalist that has worked fluidly across Service and UX Design.
My background in strategic communication and campaigns shapes how I lead: through trust, facilitation, and delivering on a shared vision. I shine in the messy middle of problem spaces when I guide teams through moments of ambiguity, iteration, and convergence.
I received a Masters in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was named Class Speaker and Chair of Graduate Student Assembly. Prior, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Virginia Tech University.
I live in California with my two daughters, husband, and a growing pile of art supplies.
